What Started as a Hobby, Grew Into a Movement.
Our Story.
Hi, I’m Eitan Gershov, a teenager from Los Angeles with a vision to bring people together. The journey of WhatsCommunity began with the release of WhatsApp’s community feature. Inspired by its potential, I set out to unite several local chats within my LA Jewish community into a single, cohesive platform.
With the support of local admins and the power of word-of-mouth, the vision quickly became a reality. WhatsCommunity grew organically, creating specialized groups for safety, free items, synagogue classes, and much more—all designed to foster connection and collaboration.
But the journey didn’t stop there. Driven by the lack of platforms focused on fostering localized connections, I set out to replicate this model in other communities. Inspired by the immense power of social media to connect people, I envisioned a platform that offered equal access and opportunity through a localized, collaborative network.
This dream is deeply personal. It’s rooted in the values of my grandmother’s kibbutz upbringing, where shared effort and community were at the heart of daily life. Her legacy inspires me to create spaces where neighbors feel like family, and cities feel as connected as a single block.
